Q. What precautions should I take to avoid an extractor hood breakdown?

Generally, an extractor hood requires low maintenance. Taking care of it on a regular basis may help prevent untimely breakdowns, like before an event planned at home.

1. Switch off the extractor hood as soon as the smell from the kitchen or bathroom has neutralized. Also, remember to keep the fan switched off at night.

2. Ensure regular light cleaning of the extractor hood so that the dirt and grime do not accumulate, making it difficult to remove later.

3. If there is a removable filter, do a regular filter cleaning – with the prescribed cleaning agent – or get it professionally cleaned at least once a year or depending on your usage pattern.

Q. How long does it take to fix an extractor hood? Will it need to be taken away?

Depending on what the problem is, extractor hood repair in Dubai can take between an hour and a few weeks. In most cases, the inspection and repair is done in one visit, but some cases require the machine to be taken to the workshop and others need parts to be ordered. At HomeGenie, we provide free pickup and delivery, when needed. Spare parts for most well-known brands are easily available, but when they have to be ordered from another country, it may take up to a few weeks.

Q. What kind of extractor hood spare parts are used in cases where something needs to be replaced?

At HomeGenie, only genuine spare parts available with the original extractor hood manufacturer are used in cases of part replacement. The warranty on these spare parts provided by the manufacturer may vary and is extended to the customer, as is. Spare parts for the latest brands are usually available on the spot, but with lesser-known brands or older models, they may be difficult to find and so require some time. With our market positioning, we are generally able to source parts faster than most other suppliers.

Q. Why does it cost extra to repair an extractor hood at the customer site as compared to the workshop?

At times, extractor hood repair may require certain specialized repair tools, testing equipment and even additional space. It may not be the easiest job to organize these at the customer’s home, making it a faster and cheaper job to carry out at the workshop. If a customer still wants the repair to be done at the site, depending upon the issue, we will be happy to do the needful. This will cost extra and will be specified at the time of booking.
